It seemed like a lifetime ago since we were all able to meet IRL, as the cyber folks say nowadays. For those who don’t know, that means in real life. After years, literally, of lockdown, thousands of crypto and blockchain OGs (Old Gansta’s, i.e. early adopters) and enthusiasts descended into Dubai for weeks of unforgettable events.
It was equally exciting for several IoTeX members who were there for a dozen very intensive days of speaking, meeting, networking, and exhibiting what this extraordinary MachineFi-focused enterprise does and where it’s headed.
Many of those IoTeX team players met for the very first time, physically, that is. What happened during their extended stay in Dubai would prove to be one of the most significant experiences for all of them. After all, it is a fully decentralized blockchain project.
Let’s start with a bit of a story about how crypto has made its way into this UAE’s economically fast-growing emirate. The government has embraced the industry and wants to lead the world into this new era.
Immediately after the Dubai government started to offer digital asset licenses in a bid to become the global crypto hub, several cryptocurrency firms rushed to set up shop in the city that boasts the world’s largest … well, practically the largest or biggest everything.
Crypto exchange Bybit is the latest to announce its move from Singapore to Dubai, joining Binance, Crypto.com, and FTX.
The Financial Times recently quoted Binance CEO and Founder, CZ(Changpeng Zhao) saying Dubai officials have attracted cryptocurrency projects with its “open mindset and a business-friendly attitude.”
Regardless, people from around the world arrived in Dubai for events that started on 16 March. The Crypto Expo Dubai took place on 16 and 17 March, followed by the World of Web3 Summit. And then came the AIBC Summit, the WBS, Binance Blockchain Week (BBW), and ETHDubai – not to mention the Finance Today Summit on 23 March.
IoTeX participated in the AIBC Summit, WBS, BBW, and finally ETHDubai. The team all were very productive, not to mention the side events and networking meet-ups. Dr. Raullen Chai, IoTeX Co-Founder and CEO, was a special BBW guest and along with other panelists, he discussed the intricacies of getting involved in blockchain as technologists. He also had the opportunity to meet backstage with Charles Hoskingson, Co-Founder of Ethereum and Cardano.
Among the many prominent figures IoTeX team members met during the AIBC were Dr. Jane Thomason and Dr. Miroslav Polzer. They are both highly-regarded academics and international speakers and authors who advocate in favor of blockchain for social impact and climate control.
They invited IoTeX to the United Nations MENA Climate Conference 2022. A few people there learned of the many things Pebble Tracker can do to help in this area, as its sensors can draw verifiable and trusted data to the blockchain and help support companies’ claims that they are reducing their carbon footprint.
Dash Co-Founder Felix Mago, a serial entrepreneur, spoke with the IoTeX team, including CBO Larry Pang, on potential synergies and future collaborations. He was impressed with the Pebble Tracker, the forthcoming launch of Meta-Pebble, and the Proof-of-Presence (POP) protocol, which will revolutionize how event organizers, for example, engage with attendees by rewarding them with tokens or NFTs for visiting exhibitor booths.
Akon, the successful Senegalese-American singer deeply involved in crypto, heard Pang’s IoTeX presentation that had a special focus on the Pebble Tracker and the future of the decentralized machine economy. His team has since contacted IoTeX to further explore potential synergies.
.
And because it is geo-location-powered, the Meta-Pebble, scheduled for launch by 30 April, could also work with local governments who want to incentivize tourists or event attendees to visit specific landmarks, among other places of interest.
Ben Goertzel, one of the leading minds in the field of AI and Machine Learning, said he would participate in a webinar on the topic he dominates with his expertise, along with Dr. Xinxin Fan, Co-Founder, and Researcher at IoTeX. Dr. Fan is also one of the leading figures globally in cryptography, AI, and machine learning, among many other areas.
This story could go on for thousands of more words, but let’s conclude by saying that hundreds, if not thousands, of IoTeX enthusiasts spoke with the MachineFi-focused company’s team members. Many were so excited to see them IRL and boast how much money they made with IOTX.
But remember, this is not investment advice. IoTeX was more happy and even proud to hear how many new projects were eager to start building dApps on their platform and help millions of people.
