Quadrant is one of the leading mobile location and data, and intelligence companies has partnered with Polygon to launch Geolancer, a platform for gamifying the collection of Point-of-Interest (POI) data.
Geolancer allows participating freelancers or Geolancers to earn eQUAD, Quadrant’s cryptocurrency, by mapping out Points-of-Interest such as convenience stores, restaurants, shops, and other places in their neighborhood through the use of a dedicated smartphone app.
Why Polygon?
Considering the high gas prices and scalability issues with the Ethereum network, eQUAD was originally issued as an ERC-20 token. Polygon’s commit chain is secured by a permissionless set of PoS validators and checkpoints that are submitted to Ethereum. It is also 100% EVM compatible. Quadrant decided to utilize Polygon to distribute Geolancer rewards quickly and efficiently.
Introducing A New NFT Incentive System
Quadrant is also introducing a new Geohash-based NFT incentive system in the Geolancer app, on top of eQUAD rewards. The introduction of Geohash-based NFT incentives was possible thanks to the scalability of Polygon. The most active Geolancer in every area can earn the title of “Guardian,” which will grant them extra rewards.
The Largest NFT Project Ever Created
Geohash allows the expression of any location, anywhere in the world. It can divide a city into thousands of geo hashes, depending on the resolution. The gamification system is turning into probably the industry’s largest NFT project ever created.
Mike Davie, the Founder, and CEO of Quadrant commented
“Geolancer is an ambitious and technically complex project. To fix the POI data industry with manual verification, we needed a platform that can handle micropayments and tens of thousands of NFTs reliably and efficiently,” “Polygon was recommended to us by the biggest investors in the blockchain industry, and we are excited to partner with them.”
Geolancer’s Beta Release Coming Soon
Already in production use by a group of professional surveyors based in Indonesia, Geolancer is planning to roll out its public beta release in the next few weeks. The release will initially be limited to Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam, and those who want to become a Geolancer in the countries mentioned above can join a waiting list.
